Santa Barbara Castle – one of the largest medieval castles in Spain and the most famous landmark in Alicante. The castle is located at the top of Mount Benacantil at an altitude of 166 metres with a beautiful view of the city and the bay. The fortress has Moorish roots. The last reconstruction of the castle dates back to the 16th century. The best time to visit this place is during the morning or evening.

The Church of Santa Maria is one of the main attractions of Alicante. It was built in the Gothic style between the 14th and 16th centuries on the ruins of a Moorish mosque. The church has a richly decorated Baroque facade, among which stands out the image of the sculptor Juan Bautista Borja. The main altar is made in the Rococo style.

Cathedral of San Nicholas of Bari was built in the XVII century in the Renaissance and Baroque style. It is located in the old town not far from the town hall. The church has a beautiful blue dome and a beautiful garden.

The Town Hall is a historic baroque building. Interesting features of the town hall are a meeting room, a chapel and twin towers over 30 meters high.

Casco Antiguo is a charming neighborhood in the old town, more like a Spanish village. Locals are proud of their houses, decorate balconies and terraces with fresh flowers and paint the shutters.

Along the Explanada d’Espanya you can find many places where souvenirs are sold. In general, Alicante has something to offer in terms of shopping.
